What I did on my summer vacation
This used to be the “first day of school” standard assignment. Among other things I did some weekend trips to Indiana and to Beaumont, TX. and some virtual trips to the Middle East (circa the time of the Crusades) and to Antarctica (flash forward to 2083).
These last two “trips” were via a couple of intriguing books. BLOOD RED HORSE by K. M. Grant is both “horse story” and survival adventure wrapped in a historical time period that gives insight through an earlier war in the Holy Land to the conflict that continues today. A horse named Hosanna is the link between young warriors, one a Christian and the other a Muslim. The challenge: Can you see both points-of-view from the back of the blood red horse?
My other adventure was through a survival reality show set near the end of the 21st century. SURVIVING ANTARCTICA: REALITY TV 2083 by Andrea White places five fourteen-year-olds on the same journey as Robert Scott and his team of scientists who perished attempting to reach their goal. As part of the educational format of the society, students “learn history” watching simulations. In the latest twist this means observing other kids struggle with both the ecosystem and the government bureaucracy that promotes the “show.”
Where did you go on your summer vacation?
Well I didn’t do much this summer, I went to a summer camp through the Georgetown parks and rec center. I went on a rock climbing, caving and repeling trip with Mr. Joe ( if you go to ASAP then you know him as adventure joe) anyway he was our teacher along with Jeremy and Ilisabeth who were here on their own summer breaks. Anyway that camp was great fun and I attended it with another friend of mine so we had lots of fun. Other than that camp i really didn’t do that much this summer except hangout with family and friends
I was all over the place this summer! I went to some camps and took a road trip. It was pretty cool.
All I did was go to alabama It was fun I also took violin lessons To freshen me up on the violin
My vaction was really boring. I sat around the house all day. But the good part is I got alot of reading in!!
The Blood Red Horse, was a exciting, thrilling, and interesting book. i think the bond between Hosanna and Will is touching. I also enjoy all of the action that Grant put into this book. The fighting going on between King Richards army and Saldin’s captures your mind. In this book you can get so interested that it begins to play like a story in your head. This book showed that these two brothers had courage, and fought for what they believed in. I also like how Ellie is supposed to marry Will’s older brother Gavin. But i kind of knew that wasn’t going to happen! This is a great book that i think will excite and please all who read it!
